A Few Acres in the Pacific Northwest
We’ve been searching for a piece of land to call our own for about 3 years now. We’d searched all over Washington state. For a long time we thought we’d find something on the Olympic Peninsula, then possibly up north by Bellingham. But we kept running into really high prices.
There were some beautiful properties, areas that we thought would be perfect but at a steep price tag. Our goals have been to save up enough money to be able to buy our land in cash (and avoid debts all together!). It’s a tough bill to fit and that’s why it’s taken so long to find just the right spot.
All the waiting has made it THAT much more exciting though. Early this Spring we started looking across the Cascades towards Yakima. It’s Washington’s smaller burgeoning wine/hops country, known for a lot of sunshine and amazing produce.
One weekend we were out there and saw a sign listing on the side of the road while driving through the Yakima river canyon. The Yakima canyon is well known for it’s beautiful windy roads, fly fishing (which Mike is keen on!) and big horn sheep. The property is 2.5 acres up on a hill overlooking wine grape vineyards with spectacular views. We were sold instantly. Can’t wait to take you along on our journey to build our future house and live more and more sustainably (both environmentally and monetarily!).
