Pete Lake Hike
Burt went into the shop for a full engine rebuild recently, so we decided to go backpacking while we're without him. We aren't expert backpackers yet - we're still feeling out the gear and getting used to hiking with more weight on our backs. So we opted for a long hike with low elevation, Pete Lake near Cle Elum.
The hike out was perfect for us, meandering and relaxed - there were also a lot of horses on this trail. The one downfall was the mosquitos. They ate me alive! If you try this hike in mid summer, be sure to wear sleeves and/or hard core repellent.
The Campsite
Because we left early, we arrived at the lake around 1pm with our choice of sites. We found a fabulous spot on the lake (mosquito free as well!).
Dusk till Dawn
It was just about a new moon, and we had a beautiful show of stars in the evening. The sunset was gorgeous and so was the sunrise. You can't beat waking up to a beautiful lake at your feet.
