"You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet" (a well timed quote from @rryyyoobbii on instagram today)
This weekend we found a car on craigslist that was being parted-out in the Chicago suburbs. We met an awesome Vanagon enthusiast, Brian, and he helped us remove the front windshield. In addition to the windshield, we picked up a steering column cover, turn signal light and horn-button.
We really debated the Westy conversion because the pop-top is for sale... But I think we're going to think about it a little while longer (*sigh*). From what we've heard it's a bigger job than we can handle right now. Maybe, someday...
Back At The Fuel Lines
Another item on our list this weekend was to attack the fuel lines again. Burt is a California air-cooled meaning the fuel lines have a different set up than the water-cooled would. The update was pretty straight-forward, Mike just followed the line from outside the firewall then changed the rubber hoses as he moved downstream. We haven't changed the hoses on the fuel injectors yet because we're currently looking for options to reattach the hoses onto the injector side.
We also got the car up on the lift. Mike tried to trace our oil leaks and it looks like we'll need new seals sooner than later. Mike noticed that the rear seal is leaking and that the new valve cover seals we had purchased were the wrong size. So now we're on the hunt for new ones again!
